About Us

Our purpose, in common with the purposes of the National PTA and the California State PTA, are:

  • To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, places of worship, and throughout the community;

  • To raise the standards of home life;

  • To advocate for laws that further the education, physical and mental health, welfare, and safety of children and youth;

  • To promote collaboration and engagement of families and educators in the education of children and youth;

  • To engage the public in united efforts to secure the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being of all children and youth; and

  • To advocate for fiscal responsibility regarding public tax dollars in public education funding.

Our mission statement

Our purpose is to make a positive impact on the Westview community and to enhance its culture and the overall wellbeing of students, staff, families and community.

Our organization

The Westview Parent Teacher Student Association supports Westview High School in the Poway Unified School District (PUSD) and is a local association of Palomar Council, Ninth District of the California PTA, a branch of the National PTA. Westview PTSA is a 501(c)(3) organization under the umbrella of California State PTA. Our EIN is 04-3687028.

Our basic policies and principles, in common with the National PTA and California State PTA include:

  • We shall work to engage and empower children, families and educators within schools and communities to provide quality education for all children and youth and shall seek to participate in the decision-making process by influencing school policy and advocating for the children's issues, recognizing that the legal responsibility to make decisions has been delegated by the people to boards of education, state education authorities, and local education authorities.

  • We shall work to promote the health and welfare of children and youth and shall seek to promote collaboration between parents, schools and the community at large.

  • Commitment to inclusiveness and equity, knowledge of PTA, and professional expertise shall be guiding principles for service in this organization.
